This Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, join attorney Victoria Bruton – a newly elected member of the Down Syndrome Connection of NWA – for their annual “Respect Run” and/or the “NWA Down Syndrome Inclusion Walk” (formerly known as The Buddy Walk) to help raise funds and promote acceptance for those with Down Syndrome in our community.
The Respect Run 5K will begin at 9:30am and take place around the Arvest Ballpark area in Springdale, AR. The 5K will be chip timed by Race Wizard and sponsored by Rush Running with awards and/or medals for the top three in each age group. Registration is $25 and you can register the morning of the event from 8:30 – 9:15am.
There will also be a Respect Run Jr. (1 mile fun run) which will begin at 10:30 am. Runner’s & walkers are welcome in both events!
The NWA Down Syndrome Inclusion Walk will be from 2:00 – 4:00pm with the walk itself beginning at 3 pm. The Inclusion Walk features music, games, arts & crafts, vendor booths and more all while raising awareness for Down syndrome in our community! The participants will gather for a fun, 1-mile walk around Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, AR and all individuals with Down Syndrome will receive a medal after finishing the walk.
Three Primary Goals of the Inclusion Walk:
- To promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome
- To raise funds to support our local families (by providing education, support and family events throughout the year)
- To enhance the position of the Down syndrome community, enabling us to positively influence local and national policy and practice
